What do I need to do to take the road test?

You need to have a valid NY learner's permit, a 5-hour pre-licensing course completion certificate (mv-278); if you are 16-17 years old, you need to have a minimum of 50 hours of behind-the-wheel experience to be eligible.

How do I obtain a learner's permit?

In order to obtain a permit, one must go to the local DMV office and apply for one.

I am 16 years old, can I get a driver's license in New York?

Yes! Your parent or guardian needs to sign the MV-44 form first, and some regulations that need to be completed in advance. You also must wait 6 months after you’ve received your permit to be eligible to take the road test.

Can I practice with my friends or family when I have a permit?

Yes absolutely, they must have a valid driver’s license, and you must practice before dusk.

Do all the test takers in New York speak English? Do any of them speak Chinese?

The road examiners all speak English. While the ability to speak English is not necessary to take the road test, one must be able to understand basic commands.

Can I take the Chinese written test in New York?

You can apply for the written permit test in multiple languages, including Chinese.

What do I need to take the permit test in NY?

How do your packages work?

Our packages are all-inclusive, there are no added fees, your road test scheduling fee, car rental fees, and 5-hour prelicensing course are all included as well as your lessons.

What is your cancellation policy and refund policy?

Lessons must be cancelled 24 hours in advance or students forfeit their lesson for the day. All packages can be refunded within 1 year of sign-up as long as the student hasn’t begun any of their classes. Road tests can be rescheduled but come with a $10 administrative fee.

Can I request a specific instructor?

Absolutely! During the sign-up process feel free to request an instructor, availability will depend on their schedules so you may not be able to begin immediately if their demand is especially high during busier seasons.

What happens if I crash the car?

Our cars are fully insured, and equipped with special secondary brakes so accidents are extremely rare, but in the event that they do happen, we are fully insured for these incidents. There are exceptions to this policy, IE Malicious intent or purposefully attempting to crash the vehicle, to which then we will have to defer to law enforcement for proper assessment.
